How are you paid?Just like the majority of investment advisors, we are paid as a percentage of all the assets that we manage on your behalf, commonly referred to as Assets under Management (AUM.) So, as an example, if we managed $100,000 on your behalf, for AUM fees of 0.8%, you'd pay us $800 for the year. We do NOT have upfront fees, or account minimums, and our fees are typically automatically deducted from a clients account, and can be found on the client's regular account statement.

What is your investment philosophy? While no firm's investment philosophy can be completely and comprehensively stated, Merrigold's investment philosophy can be outlined as the following: owning productive assets (primarily equities and diversified funds), bought at reasonable prices, held over long periods of time, rebalanced regularly, is the best recipe for sustainable real growth to achieve financial goals. In general, the amount of risk you take on is directly related to the returns you can expect your portfolio to generate, and free lunches are never free.
-
Are you a fiduciary?Yes. As your investment advisor, your best interest will always come first. There are no exceptions to our fiduciary obligations to you and your account(s) once you're fully onboarded as a client.
-
What happens after we initially onboard?Depending on the client, we will meet on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis, to discuss the client's account(s), their goals, their financial status, and all other relevant periodicals, but minimally, we will meet together, virtually or in-person, at least once a year. You will also regularly receive quarterly account statements, newsletters, immediate and necessary firm updates and disclosures, immediate and necessary advisor updates and disclosures, paid fee schedules, and occasional questionnaires, to ensure you always have all important and relevant information as soon as possible and remain completely satisfied with our work together.
